Our Story
GAUCHA was founded by Sofia de la Sota with the idea to create a bridge between her native Buenos Aires and the US, where she currently resides with her family. She decided to carefully curate a small collection of hand made Argentinian leather goods, to showcase one of the best leathers in the world.
The process starts by selecting only the finest vegetable tanned leather, the best artisans, and the most functional styles. Sofia selects each product thinking of a modern woman, who enjoys high quality goods and appreciates traditional methods.
Our bags and accessories are made of vegetable tanned leather, the most traditional and sustainable way of tanning leather. This chrome-free method generates only organic residues that don’t contaminate the environment. Due to the nature of the vegetable tanning process, each batch is unique, buttery soft and highly durable.
We have deep respect for people and the environment, and strive to be part of the slow fashion movement. Each product is handmade in small batches in Argentina, following strict environmental guidelines. We ensure our artisans are compensated fairly, and benefit from an exceptional working environment.
